MASCA Web Site

President's Message

christine evansGreetings Fellow School Counselors,

Welcome to the Massachusetts School Counselors Association web site.  As we head into the 2009-2010 school year, I am excited about the wide variety of possibilities and opportunities that are available to each of us as we work to make a positive difference in the lives of children throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Staying in touch with your state association will keep you up to date on opportunities to learn, grow, and advocate for your students and your profession.

The Mission of MASCA is to advocate for school counselors in Massachusetts by providing leadership, collaboration, and professional development. Last year we made excellent progress in all areas, and this year we look forward to continuing to move ahead, building on the energy and momentum from the past, while adding renewed energy to the efforts. The fall and spring conferences, MA Model Institutes, professional development workshops, informative articles in the Counselor’s Notebook, networking through and among our local affiliates, and the Day on the Hill, and our role in hospitality for the upcoming ASCA National Conference in Boston, 2010 are just a few highlights of MASCA’s offerings to you in the coming year.  The MASCA website is undergoing changes and improvements to enhance services and resources. If you have suggestions for this site, please share your ideas with Joe Fitzgerald, our Technology Committee Chair at jdfitz02188@comcast.net.

MASCA’s theme for this year is “Moving All School Counselors Ahead - Making Accountability and Readiness Count.” This theme will be carried out in all we do throughout the year in our efforts to bring about our vision to “Connect Counselors in the 21st Century”   Thank you for the opportunity to serve as president in the coming year. I look forward to working with you and hearing from you. I wish you all the best for a wonderful and fulfilling school year.

Sincerely,
Christine Evans
